University Students
University students thinking of extending their actuarial experience beyond the lecture theatre may wish to participate in the Staple Inn Actuarial Society.
For a modest outlay (see the latest application form linked on this page for the subscription cost) university student members can expect:
- A subscription to The Actuary magazine (11 issues a year);
- Access to free sessional meetings at Staple Inn (London, WC1V 7QJ) which provide a forum for the presentation and discussion of papers in the professional interest (follow this link for further details) and
- Access to social events (sometimes subsidised, sometimes free) which are based in and around London (follow this link for further details).
University Sponsorship
SIAS sets aside £10,000 each year to sponsor university scholarships in actuarial and related subjects. This fund is designed to support:
- Postgraduate research into subjects of the actuarial profession's interest and
- The studies of students of actuarial sciences and the like from disadvantaged backgrounds.
