Call for paper authors: SIAS is currently looking for volunteers (particularly students or newly qualified) to write and present sessional papers. Papers can be on any actuarially related topic. Click here for more information.

Objectives

The Committee has reconsidered the role and objectives of SIAS and has then considered how its activities fit in with these objectives, setting targets to be achieved. These are set out below in our Long Term Plan.

Role

The role of SIAS it to:

  • Support the professional interests of younger members of the Profession, particularly students and those with up to five years post-qualification experience.
  • Act as the London regional society.

Overall objectives

The objectives set out below provide a framework within which SIAS fulfils this role. Details of how the SIAS committee seeks to meet these objectives are set out in the remainder of this Long Term Plan.

The objectives of SIAS are:

  • To provide opportunities, particularly for younger members of the profession, to:
    • attend and participate in open discussions of professional interest;
    • prepare papers and/or presentations on topics of professional interest;
    • have social contact with each other; and
    • learn about and share experiences of the Profession’s education programme.
  • Help members in their professional development.
