Objectives
The objectives of the Society were revised in 1992, the primary aim of the Society is to provide opportunities for younger members of the profession to:
- attend and participate in open discussions of professional interest
- prepare papers for publication and discussion
- acquire skills and information in areas related to the profession or their occupation which are not otherwise readily available
- have social contact with each other
Today SIAS organises a programme of papers and social events aimed at the younger members of the UK actuarial profession. We also:
- publish The Actuary magazine on behalf of the profession
- seek to ensure that the views of younger members are represented on Council and on Institute committees
- liaise actively with regional actuarial societies
- foster contact with other young professional groups.
