Objectives

The objectives of the Society were revised in 1992, the primary aim of the Society is to provide opportunities for younger members of the profession to:

  • attend and participate in open discussions of professional interest
  • prepare papers for publication and discussion
  • acquire skills and information in areas related to the profession or their occupation which are not otherwise readily available
  • have social contact with each other

Today SIAS organises a programme of papers and social events aimed at the younger members of the UK actuarial profession. We also:

  • publish The Actuary magazine on behalf of the profession
  • seek to ensure that the views of younger members are represented on Council and on Institute committees
  • liaise actively with regional actuarial societies
  • foster contact with other young professional groups.
