Synopsis
Are all closed funds "Zombie" funds - neglected by management and producing poor returns? Or is this just the image portrayed by the press? With an increase in the number and merger activity of such funds there is a need to demonstrate that they can be well managed and to challenge the perception that closed fund means bad fund.
This paper identifies some of the risks and potential mitigations associated with running closed life funds and will also be of interest to those involved in open funds containing legacy blocks of business.
